WAIT: DID YOU ACHIEVE YOUR GOALS FOR 2018?

Yes! It’s the last day of the year! The 365th day of the year 2018! Just like yesterday, the year started and in a few hours from now, the whole world will be celebrating the coming in of another year. It’s really amazing how time flies, and as they say, it waits for no man. 2018 is winding down and I think we all should be grateful for being alive to witness the end of it.

However, in case you haven’t done so, I believe this last day of the year is a good time to take stock of the year 2018. How well did you fare in the year? Were you able to accomplish all of your goals? If you did, then I congratulate you—you have really done well. If you did not, what kept you from achieving your goals? Was it procrastination, doubt, fear, excuses, lack of focus, laziness, wrong strategy, environment, poor time management, doing many things at the same time, lack of mentorship, or unforeseen circumstances?

You need to sit down and identify the obstacle(s) that prevented you from achieving your goals for the year. Doing this will help you re-strategize and plan on how to overcome such obstacles in the New Year. Yes, we are a few hours from 2019, and you should start planning for the coming year. Start setting your goals for the year and have a realistic plan on how you will achieve your set goals.

Do not see yourself as a failure because of your inability to attain your goals for 2018, rather let the unaccomplished goals motivate you to give your best in 2019. After all, it is said that: “our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.” Let the experiences you’ve gained from the challenges faced in this year guide you in order to avoid the same pitfalls in the New Year.

I am sure you’d love to end 2019 on a happy and fulfilled note—that would only be possible depending on the actions you take in the year. Make use of this last day in 2018 to plan for the New Year ahead and you’d be thankful for it in the next 365 days.
